USABILITY TESTING FOR AIR READING
An online reading platform for students from Pre-K to 5th grade
Sponsored by Air Reading
OVERVIEW.
Air reading is a newly-developed virtual learning platform that offers a variety of different levels of reading programs for kids. This year they launched their website and reached out to us to conduct Usability Testing of some core content for new development.
We helped the product team conduct the usability testing with 8 users and generated a testing report with heuristic evaluation from usability and marketing perspectives. Based on the research findings, we give the corresponding recommendations and redesign for these issues, considering both usability and accessibility.

REFLECTION.
Impact
This usability testing had a large impact on the overall company. After showing the usability testing report to Air Reading team, air reading believes their site will become more usable. They have already made iterations to certain features based on our work.
Takeaway
The method of usability testing helped me gain a more thorough grasp of how a product might affect users and how usability might influence decision-making. When making recommendations and redesigning the website, we also considered accessibility such as modifying the color contrast. The entire exercise was incredibly beneficial in understanding how people view and utilize this website.
Going Forward
Currently, Air reading is working on Implementing our recommendations. This project has improved my user research skills, and I've learned that putting on someone else's shoes is the key to finding what users demand.
